This 1963 Mercedes-Benz 230SL was purchased by the owner in 2000 and was refurbished approximately seven years ago. The car has been refinished in metallic burgundy over Parchment MB-Tex upholstery and is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, a body-color removable hardtop, a Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, a heater, European-style headlights, power-assisted front disc brakes, and 14? steel wheels with painted covers. This W113 230SL is now offered on dealer consignment with service records and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example was refinished in metallic burgundy approximately seven years ago according to the selling dealer, and features include a tan soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, dual side mirrors, and European-specification headlights.

The body-color 14? steel wheels feature hubcaps with painted centers and polished trim rings, and they are mounted with 195/75 Pirelli P300 tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The tie rod ends, power steering pump and pully, and replaced rear end pivot bushings and boots were replaced in 2016.

The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in Parchment MB-Tex that extends to the door panels and is accented by color-coordinated carpets. Interior appointments include a Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, an analog clock, a floor-mounted gear shifter, and a heater.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 220-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 32k kilometers (~20k miles), approximately 2k kilometers of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection. The motor mounts, fuel pump, and fuel sending unit were replaced in 2014, while the water pump was replaced and an ignition tune-up was completed in 2016.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The shifter bushings were replaced in 2014.
